Every day, your child will bring home their 'sac en plastique' containing any work, memos, etc.. This baggie should be checked daily and returned each morning containing any work, books, notes, orders, etc..
Please continue to read and practice the books, poems and songs from previous weeks, as well! Please also continue to review the alphabet and alphabet sounds with your child, with a focus now on the vowel sounds. You can find more in the "Les sons" section!

This week, your child should practice reading the poem “Octobre”. We will be practicing this in class as well. Try to point out familiar/important words including octobre, j’aime, automne, Halloween, il y a and feuilles. You can ask them to find those words in the poem, write them out, etc. Please have your child draw a picture of their favorite thing about October in the square. Remind them to use their best drawing and coloring skills!
Here is the translation of the poem:
Octobre
Octobre, octobre (October, October) Un mois que j’aime beaucoup! (A month I love a lot!) L’automne et l’Halloween (Fall and Halloween) Il y a des feuilles partout! (There are leaves everywhere!)
*** Please also continue to review the other books and poems/songs we have worked on!
Math: Please continue to review the numbers 0-10, and begin to review 11-20. Focus on both counting and word recognition. There are videos on my site to help you with the proper pronunciations! In addition, please work on the three math sheets described below.
Les régularités ABC: circle or color the image that should follow.
Compter: Circle the correct number for each set of images (have them say the numbers aloud as they count).
Associe le nombre avec le mot: Connect each number with its written form.

This week, your child will read the poem/song "C'est l'automne". We have been reading and singing this in class, so it should be at least somewhat familiar for your child. It's ok if they don't quite know it - keep practicing! You could read/sing it and have them repeat it back, or vice-versa!
I would also encourage you to continue reading their other two books, "Je vois... Mon école" and "J'adore mes souliers".
Please continue to review the colours with your child as well:
rouge (red) bleu (blue) noir (black) blanc (white) vert (green) brun (brown) orangeviolet (purple) gris (grey) rose (pink) jaune (yellow)
Les maths:
Three worksheets were sent home. Specific instructions were included!
Please review the numbers 1 - 10 in number and written form! Practice counting up to 20, forwards and then backwards when they are ready!

La lecture:
This week, your child will read their book “J’adore mes souliers” (I love my shoes). This book focuses on colors. We have been working with colors in class for some time, so they should be familiar with the words. They may need some prompting/reminders, and that is ok (get them to look at the first letter and figure out what sound that makes, then see if that helps them remember the word). The colors in the book are:
rouge (red) bleu (blue) noir (black) blanc (white) vert (green) brun (brown) orangeviolet (purple) gris (grey) rose (pink) jaune (yellow)
Please note that in their book, the color words have an ‘s’ at the end. This is because the word is plural (ie. I love my purple shoes) and in French, the adjective also gets an ‘s’! While working with these words in class, we use the singular version! Your child will also have a sheet about the alphabet song. They is being sent home mainly for practice identifying the letters. During the week, have them sing it on occasion and work on letter recognition (point to random letters on the sheet/ in books and have them tell you what it is, flashcard ABCs, etc.).
This week’s sight words are :
je (I, as in “Je marche.”) il (he, as in “Il marche.”) elle (she, as in “Elle marche.”) un (both one and a, as in “un garçon”) une (the feminine of “un”, as in “une fille”)
